 Jax's 1st Birthday Celebration
Jax's Birthday is really on the 18th of August but we wanted to celebrate it when family was here. So after a long day of the beach, downtown, shopping and basketball we squeezed in some birthday cake and presents, and Jax was so good, even though he was so worn out!

Aunt Laura and Uncle Chris spoiled Jax with this Tire-Toy-Tube and a "tool set." He ablosulty loves them, thanks Austins!

 Gavin liked them too! =)

And of course the cake!!!

17th August 2012

Great Grandma & Grandpa Hoer sent Jax his first brithday card! Thanks to his Great Grandma, Grandpa and Grandma Tossey Jax has already started his mission fund.

Summer

21 July 2012
Jax loves being outside! If it's just walking around or in the water he doesn't care, so long as he has free rein! At the beach he will just keep walking strait out into the ocean if you let him.

23 July 2012
So Aaron, Jax, Christopher (a boy I've started babysitting) and I were all out for a walk and we turn just in time to see this car drive off the road! Aaron quickly ran over to see if anyone was hurt, but the guy was able to step out of the car, apparently he had fallen asleep! Aaron actually yanked the horn out of the car after it had been blaring for 10-20 mins. This picture was actually taken from our back patio screen.

Aaron and I are...let just say less thrilled with the drivers and roads in SC.

  • There are no street signs and if there are, they are not were you can utilize them while driving. example: after the turn the sign tells you what you need to know or on a part of the street you can't read.
  • A lot of the roads are in really bad need of repair. Example: there are waves (~)in the road, and potholes all down our road.
  • Left turn only lanes. So this you wouldn't think anything is wrong with this right, right...until you've got 7-10 cars backed up because one person wants to go strait, why don't they have a right turn only lane and the straits and lefts can wait for the light? Normally this wouldn't bother me but they're here a lot and it just doesn't make sense...
  • Tailgaters....so this is getting more and more common everywhere but it makes us miss when it wasn't so common.
  • Blinkers....idk if people from SC know what they are.
  • So idk what you call them, but I call it the suicide lane, you know the lane down the middle of the road were people turn coming from either direction. Well here people us it as a parking spot, driving lane, whatever! it amazed me that a cop will pull someone over and ticket them in this lane!
  • We were also told that this state has the most uninsured drivers or people driving without a license by and Allstate agent
Please don't miss understand my post... we really do love being here. We've enjoyed the
  • warm weather
  • beaches
  • lakes
  • history, historic sights, museams
  • our ward
  • our callings
  • our condo
  • friends
  • access to so many different activites!
I could keep going but we are continually discovering the different things to do around Charleston

3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
12 July 2012
Aaron and a 3-on-3 Tournament up on Base, they placed 3rd and came home with a cash win, $12! I always enjoy watching Aaron play ball.

I think he's had that shirt since he was 10 or 11 years old.

Aaron's "hook," everyone knows him by it.

13 July 2012
Jax was given some toys from his Great Grandma Hoer and we love them! Thanks Grandma! We were surprised at how well he caught on and can put them on in order.

15 July 2012
So Jax is learning how to dance! Christen Reyes (Aaron's coworker and friend) was teaching him one night. He also know's how to give high 5s now! He's so cool!

17 July 2012
I absolutely LOVE Jax's wave.

Independence Day

4 July 2012
We went to a firework show at Patriot's Point because last year's show was so good there. We were a bit disappointed because there was no band or music synced with the fireworks like last years and they didn't shoot them off the Yorktown (aircraft carrier). Everything was moved onto the Yorktown and you had to buy tickets...lame! But we still had a good time and Aaron got some pretty cool pictures with our camera.

Our first firework show was at Marrington Plantation (June 30) here in the Naval Weapon's base. We also went to a firework show (7 July) out were Aaron is working (Short Stay) and got to watch them from the boat, also pretty cool. There was a DJ there and we heard someone referring to Aaron as the "dancing guy" after we did some country swing to a few songs.
So over all we went to 3 firework shows and Aaron's made his briquet so we enjoyed our Independence Day celebrations!

The famous Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in Charleston, SC that goes over the Cooper River
P.S. if you like country/Darious Rucker this is the bridge he is standing in front of on his CD Cover: "Darious Rucker, Charleston, SC 1966"

The crew, we had the Burtons (Mitch, Christine and Madox) and Coxsens (Micheal, Rebbeca and Amelia) with us.
